Vernon Osborne Moore, 88, of Clifton Park, and formerly of Ticonderoga, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 28, 2013, with loved ones at his side. He was born in Ticonderoga, NY on April 24, 1924, the son of the late Ralph and Edith (Hall) Moore. He was pre-deceased by his brothers William, Robert, and Richard; and sister Priscilla. A member of "The Greatest Generation", Vern was very proud of his service to his country. He served with the 29th Infantry Division during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds suffered during combat in France. Vern worked in sales for many years before going to work for the Department of Social Services until his retirement in 1986. In his early years, he enjoyed camping and travel until his health began to fail. He loved his many Scottish Terriers. He also loved listening to bluegrass and fiddle music. But most of all, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who could always be relied upon to help in any way he could, and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Constance; sons Ronald and Stephen Moore and Leslie Middleton; daughter Michelle Dufort; seven grandchildren, Richard, Erin, Jamie, Josh, Sarah, Amanda, Antonia; two great-grandchildren, Daulton and Juliana; and many nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service and burial will take place at a later date in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vern's name to The Community Hospice, The Community Hospice Foundation, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rennselaer, NY 12144.
