Schroon Lake. Gladys B. Hamner 86 died Tuesday September 24, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born September 12, 1927 in South Schroon, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle (Gregory) Clark who both passed away in 1993. Gladys was an alumna of Schroon Lake Central School and the Chicago School of Nursing. She practiced nursing in Massachusetts and New York for many years, specializing in pediatrics, newborn nursery, surgery and geriatrics. After retiring from nursing, Gladys was employed by the Grand Union/Topps Company until an injury sustained in a car accident forced her into early retirement at the age of eighty. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family, dining out, solving word puzzles and jumbles, listening to country and western music, watching game and classic comedy shows, and closely following current world events. She was blessed to have her close friends Gerry, Joan, Marjorie and Timi with whom she shared many visits, phone calls, laughter and letters. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her beloved husband George W. Hamner whom she was married to for 37 years at his passing in 1999. Survivors include her cherished daughter Sharon (Kevin) Kelly, her adored grandchildren Shanon Kelly and Kevin Kelly, Jr. all of Schroon Lake, her dear step-son David (Teresa) DuFrane of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and her treasured nephew Joseph Hamner of Mass., a brother and sister in law, as well as many cousins. Calling hours for relatives and friends were held Friday September 27 at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc.9 Pine St. Chestertown, NY. A celebration of her life was held on Friday evening at the funeral home with Rev. Charlie Bolstridge officiating. Private interment will be at the Brant Lake Cemetery. Cheryl A. Mitchell Lewis - Cheryl A. Mitchell, 57, of US Route 9, Lewis, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Chicopee, MA, June 20, 1956, John Robert and Pearl Mary (Fountain) Mangum. Cheryl was a dedicated employee of Denton Publications, Inc. for many years, her co-workers will miss her deeply. At Cheryl's request there will be no public calling hours or services. CLIFTON PARK. Janice M. Noxon, 75, of Kinns Road, passed away peacefully Thursday night at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Putnam, NY on April 5, 1938, she was the daughter of Pauline Winchell Fuller of Malta and the late Edward A. Fuller. A homemaker for most of her adult life, Janice had worked in retail for the Filene's and Jordan Marsh Department Stores while living in Nassau, NH with her husband. They had also lived in England for a short time. She was a member of the Clifton Park Ladies Bowling League for many years and also enjoyed hiking, taking care of the landscaping around the house, shopping and bird watching. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles "Chuck" Noxon, whom she married December 26, 1955, her beloved children, Lisa(Ted) McLaughlin of Porters Corners, Terri(John) Northup of Mineville, Gary(Joann) Noxon of Malta and Jason(Krystina) Noxon of Saratoga Springs. Also her adored grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly, Jamie, Tyler, Samantha and Violet, cherished great grandchildren Hailey, Andrew and Katie, brother Donald(Ruthie) Fuller of Ticonderoga and several nieces and nephews. Inurnment services were held Wednesday October 2, at NOON at the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871. Ticonderoga. Eugene "Gene" Alteri, Sr., 88, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Ticonderoga, December 27, 1924, he was the son of the late Michael A. and Bertha V. (Baker) Alteri. Mr. Alteri was a lifetime Ticonderoga resident. At the age of 16, Gene worked on the D & H Railroad. At the age of 19 he began his career of more than 40 years with International Paper Company of Ticonderoga. He started as a Boiler Operator and then quickly advanced to the Woodyard, before becoming Crane Operator. He spent most of his career as Crane Operator and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Company's Quarter Century Club. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Lucille A. Alteri on May 17, 2012. He was also pre-deceased by his first wife, Dorothy Reed Alteri and by one brother, John F. Alteri. Survivors include his six children, Roger E. Alteri of Tennessee, Eugene Alteri, Jr. of Ticonderoga, Cherlyn E. Flanagan of Massachusetts, Lori A. Alteri of Ticonderoga, Karen M. Alteri of Ticonderoga, and Diana L. Alteri Clark of Ticonderoga; and three sisters, Leona Badke, Alberta Sharkey, and Antoinette Mott, all of Ticonderoga. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Francis Edward O'Connor of Sewall's Point, Florida and Keene, New York died peacefully in his home in Keene, New York on October 5, 2013. He will be missed by all who knew him. Son of Andrew and Hannah (Bresnahan) O'Connor, he was born in Chicago on February 8, 1918. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 70 years, Esther, and his great-granddaughter, Grace O'Connor Angerame. He was greatly loved and leaves behind two daughters and their husbands, Janice and Bill Loud of Hobe Sound, Florida and Maureen and Dan Deighan of Sewall's Point, Florida and Keene, New York; one grandson in Virginia, Timothy Pollachioli, his wife Laura and their two sons, Anthony and Phillip; and two granddaughters, Bridget O'Connor Angerame and her husband Danny of Houston, Texas, and Chantal Barland De Villena, her husband Bert and their son, Asher, of San Antonio, Texas; as well, a niece, Mary Eileen Raybould and her husband, Milton, of Houston,Texas. He received his law degree at DePaul University, Chicago and his MBA at the University of Chicago. He was employed by Chicago Title and Trust Company as Executive Vice President and President of the Trust Division. He was a member of St. Joseph parish in Stuart, Florida and St. Brendan parish in Keene, New York. He and Esther were members of the Arts Council of Martin County Florida since its beginning and supported many of their programs, especially Art is Everywhere. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Yonkovig at St. Brendan's Catholic Church, Keene, New York on Monday October 14, 2013 at 11am. Ticonderoga. Raymond Robert Bazan, 74, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare. Born in Brooklyn, New York, December 23, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Victoria (Girard) Bazan. Mr. Bazan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War. He has been a resident of Ticonderoga for many years. He married Ida Mae (Lamica) Bazan on October 28, 1960 and they raised their family in Ticonderoga. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Ray was well respected for his handling of the produce department of the Grand Union and retired as Produce Manager after 40 years of service. As a teamster union member, he worked on the construction of the original No. 7 Machine for International Paper Company in Ticonderoga. Mr. Bazan was a former Knights of Columbus member and enjoyed Sunday rides with his wife. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Ida Mae Bazan on September 21, 2008, and also by one son, Patrick Bazan on September 18, 1966. Survivors include one son, Christopher S. Bazan and his wife, Dawn of Ticonderoga; one daughter, Tara Mascarenas and her husband, Sean of Port Henry; and five grandchildren, Nathan Bazan, Hayden Bazan, Omni Bazan, Ryan Gunning, and Megan Tatro. Calling hours for relatives and friends were held Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A Funeral Service followed at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Mr. Elliott A. Shaw officiated. The Rite of Committal took place at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga.

Ticonderoga. John Roy Lynch, 66, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013, at Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare of Ticonderoga. Born in Miami, Florida, September 20, 1947, he was the son of the late Henry and Gertrude L. (Best) Caplan. John was employed as a Prison Guard at Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility for many years, prior to his retirement in 2003. He was very involved with the Employee Assistance Program. Mr. Lynch enjoyed fishing and playing golf. His greatest joy was spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. John was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Survivors include his two children, Candace I. Gosselin of Clemons and April M. Bain of Putnam Station; one sister, Irene A. Houghland of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the family plot of the Meadow Knoll Cemetery of Putnam Station. Doris M. Letson, 90, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at her residence. Born in Moriah, May 30, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Gertrude (Ware) Winters. Doris was pre-deceased by her husband, Gordon H. Letson in 1985; and by her son, Robert G. Letson in 1987. She is survived by her daughter, Lois J. Dresnek of Windsor, Ca; and two grandsons, Christopher Dresnek of Eureka, CA and Douglas Dresnek and his wife, Anna of San Francisco, CA. A Graveside Service will take place on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Crown Point. John Isaac Gudikunst, 81, of Crown Point, passed away on Oct 15, 2013 at Fletcher Allen Hospital with family by his side. He was born in Burlington, NJ, on March 22, 1932 to Howard and Margaret E. (Saaybye) Gudikunst. He was better known to family and friends as Jack or Opa. He had a great love of the sea. He served the Navy on the destroyer U.S.S. Orleck, during the Korean War. He raised his sons going to the Jersey shore and moved them to the mountains of New York to enjoy hunting and fishing. He retired from the phone company and then drove a school bus for over 20 years. He had a beautiful soul and anyone who met him loved him. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Bonnie L. Gudikunst on August 4, 2013. He is survived by two sons, Bret Gudikunst and his wife, Kim of Crown Point, and Craig Gudikunst and his wife, Chris of Springfield, VA; two sisters, Barbara Klemm and Jeanne Scattergood; his five grandchildren, Kaitlin A., Bret O., Emily L., Kailyn L., and Gabrielle L.; and his two great grandsons, Lucas E. and Noah J.; and other special family. Jack's wishes were to have no services and be returned to the sea. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.

ROY JAMES WEST, SR., JUL 7, 1947 - OCT 21, 2013

North Creek: Roy James West, Sr., 66, of Byrnes Road, passed away suddenly, Monday, October 21, 2013 after being stricken at his home. Born July 7, 1947 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Hilda I. (Fish) West of North Creek and the late Earl P. West, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Roy was employed at the North Creek Woodworking Co. for nearly 35 years. He took great pride in helping construct the radio telescope at the Dudley Observatory in Bolton. Besides spending time with his beloved family, Roy enjoyed the great outdoors. He could often be found tending to his garden, taking wildlife photos, listening to music, tending to the family homestead, having coffee at the Black Bear with his friends, and was an avid car enthusiast. Roy will be remembered as a compassionate man and a loving father, son, brother, grandfather, and neighbor. He was always willing to help a friend or family in need. Besides his father, he is predeceased by a sister-in-law, Arlene West. He is survived by his mother, Hilda West of North Creek; his children; a son, Spec. Roy West, Jr., who is currently serving our country in Korea, and his wife, Kristy of Sandy Creek; daughters, Lori West and Lisa West, and their mother, Lois Hammond, all of Pottersville; his brothers, John J. West and his wife, Laura Mae of North Creek and Earl P. West, Jr. of Minerva; his grandchildren: Damian and Tayton West of Sandy Creek and Caitlyn Ritson of Pottersville; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends called on Roy's family from 12 to 2 pm, Friday, October 25, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Minerva, Route 28N, Minerva. A funeral service to celebrate his life followed the visitation at the church at 2 pm with The Rev. Gregory, pastor officiating. Burial followed in Minerva Baptist Cemetery. Stephen Pell Dechame died suddenly at his family home, Le Petite Pavillion, Ticonderoga, NY on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. He was born December 18, 1947 at Moses-Ludington Hospital, Ticonderoga, NY. The beloved son of Stephanie Pell and Roger Dechame, Stephen shared his parents lifelong love, and devotion to Fort Ticonderoga. Through his parents, Stephen was a direct descendent of the Lords of the Manor of Pelhham, NY, and Stephen H.P. and Sarah G. T. Pell, who began the reconstruction of Fort Ticonderoga in 1908. He attended Ticonderoga Public Schools, The North Country School, Lake Placid NY, The Pomfret School in Pomfret, CT, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH and the New England School of Law, Boston, MA. Stephens life was dedicated to the fulfillment of Social Justice. In addition to his service to Fort Ticonderoga, Stephen gave his life completely to his clients in the Massachusetts Juvenile Justice System where he served as a Juvenile Defender, Guardian Ad Liten, and advocate for reform. His efforts touched and benefited uncounted lives. While Stephen would never accept praise or allow himself to be distinguished for his work as a Public Defender and Advocate, he was particularly proud to be a Trustee of Fort Ticonderoga, a position he maintained throughout his life through July, 2013. With a passion of all aspects of Fort Ticonderoga's vast and diverse history, Stephen took particular interest in the arrival of Samuel de Champlain in July 1609. Stephen's devotion to his Mother, Stephanie Pell Dechame, especially in her later years, was an inspiration to all who knew them. Stephen is survived by his devoted brother, Robert Pell Dechame of Charleston, SC, his beloved cousins, William Hudson, and Sarah Hudson Krueger, his God-children, Mimi Krueger Rozek, and Christopher Krueger. He is also survived by his aunts, the Countess Mary Elizabeth de Lyrot, Alexandra Pell Kuhel and his uncles, Frederick H. Allen and Anthony Pell, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is remembered by special friends, James O'Neil, Pope Simmons, and Frederick, Thomas and Audrey Provoncha. Private Services will take place at the convenience of the family. Ticonderoga. Pauline C. (Dimakis) Chappell, 79, of Ticonderoga and Haines City, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at her residence. Born in Ticonderoga, September 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Young) Dimakis. Mrs. Chappell was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School, Class of 1952 and SUNY Cortland, where she received her teaching degree. She also completed continuing education at SUNY Plattsburgh. She was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life, and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga. Pauline began her teaching career in 1956. She taught at Moriah Central School for many years, prior to her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers' Association, the American Association of University Women, and the Business & Professional Women. She served as President of the local Moriah Teachers' Association and was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Ticonderoga Country Club. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Sherman A. Chappell on November 24, 1997. She was also pre-deceased by one granddaughter, Deidra Chappell in 2002. Survivors include her two sons, Michael J. Chappell of Plattsburgh and Gregg S. Chappell and his wife, Lara of Whitehall; three grandchildren, Donovan Chappell, Hope Chappell and Faith Chappell; two sisters, Rosemary Dahl of Webster, NY, and Demetria Woodard of Texas; and one brother, James Dimakis of Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Betty Roberts and her husband, Alonzo of Moriah, Joan Trombly of Moriah and Shirley Guynup of Mineville; and her brother-in-law, Alfred Rule of Mineville; and several nieces and nephews. Francine Elizabeth Buchanan, 82 of Darien CT died Wednesday, October 16th peacefully in her home. Francine was born in Ticonderoga NY on December 14th 1930, the daughter of the late Donald Francis and Mary (Ferris) LaPointe. Francine graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in English and soon after married the late Warren D. Buchanan. Prior to moving to Darien they lived in Washington D.C. where Francine worked for the N.S.A. An active member of the Darien community for 50+ years, Francine was Owner and Director of Shepherd Personnel Placement Services, Placement Coordinator for both The Darien Convalescent Center and The Catherine Gibbs School in Norwalk, as well as the Children's Education Director at St Paul's Church Darien. Her community service included the founding of "CanDo", an environmental action group focused on cleaning and protecting the rivers and streams in Darien, being a longstanding member of the DAR, serving multiple-terms on the Darien Housing Authority Commission, and being a founding member of St Paul's Church, Darien and later, an active member of Church of the Apostles, Fairfield. Francine was a proud and active thirty-year Friend of Bill. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Francine is survived by her four children: Jeanne E Buchanan, Mary R (Buchanan) Schneider, Donald B Buchanan & his wife, Patricia, and Jeffrey F Buchanan & his wife, Jan; by her 6 grandchildren: Douglas Schneider, Rachel Schneider, Mary Elizabeth Buchanan, Kathryn Buchanan, Emily Buchanan, and Lindsay Buchanan; her brother, Mortimer LaPointe and her sister, Elizabeth (LaPointe) Hand. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Mary LaPointe and her grandson, Kyle Schneider. Calling hours will be held 4-7pm Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Boston Post Road, Darien. A Celebration of her life will take place 2pm Thursday, October 24, 2013 at St Paul's Church, 471 Mansfield Avenue, Darien. A private family interment will be held at Valley View Cemetery in Ticonderoga, NY at a later date. Indian Lake, NY and Pittsburgh, PA. Thomas W. O'Brien, Sr., age 70, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Born on January 24, 1943 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Ethel Wakely O'Brien Fletcher and the late David O'Brien. He was a 1960 graduate of Indian Lake Central School. He earned his Bachelor Degree from Oswego State University and a Masters Degree in Industrial Education from Trenton State University. He earned a PhD. from Ohio State University On July 9, 1966 he married Phyllis Braswell in Ozone Park, NY. Tom retired in 2008 from a long and distinguished career as Director of Vocational Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a B.A. degree program that he began within the University. He enjoyed anything that had to do with heavy equipment. He had a lifelong passion for Wakely Lodge, the family business in Indian Lake and the Adirondack Mountains. Tom was predeceased by his father, David O'Brien and his step father, Richard Fletcher. Survivors include his beloved wife of over 47 years, Phyllis O'Brien; his mother Ethel Fletcher; his loving son, Thomas O'Brien, Jr. and his girlfriend Amy Reece; his siblings, Cory, Sylvia, Peggy and Ruby; many nieces nephews, family and close friends. Indian Lake, NY. Francis John (Frank) Fleming died surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 after a 4 year battle with cancer and a courageous 50 year battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Frank was born on April 1st, 1930 to Anna (Hannon) and Thomas Francis Fleming in North Tarrytown, NY. He graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School and received a Bachelors Degree in Business from Manhattan College in 1952. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from a career in publishing as the Marketing Director for the Catholic Hospital Association in St. Louis, MO. Amongst Franks many accomplishments in life, none gave him greater joy than his family. With Margaret and the boys he organized vacations and trips pursuing his love of history, culture and the outdoors. Despite his illness, he coached many of his sons' athletic teams and instilled in them his innate sense of hard work and fair play. His wit, knowledge and storytelling capabilities were surpassed only by his genuine interest and compassion for others. He was at ease in his role as a devoted Husband, caring Father and loyal Friend. He leaves this world a finer place having shared these gifts with those he loved. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Margaret "Peggy", His 6 Sons and their families: Frank (Carolin), Paul (Mary), Thomas (Julie), John (Gemma), David (Gina), Peter (Kristin), 17 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. He lived a faith-based life as a devout Catholic and was an active member of the St Mary's Church in Indian Lake. He was a member of the Parker Benton American Legion Post 1392 and prized his "Bleeding Heart" Citation awarded by the IL Bottle and Can Brigade. A funeral mass was held at St. Mary's in Indian Lake at 10 AM on Saturday November 2nd 2013. Margaret "Maggie" Kazlo, 73, of Oswego died Tuesday in University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. Ms. Kazlo was born in Witherbee, NY the daughter of Theresa Montagnola of Moriah, NY and the late Joseph Kazlo. She was a resident of Syracuse where she worked until her reirement as a claims adjuster for Granger Insurance, Syracuse, NY and later moved to Oswego in 2001. Ms. Kazlo enjoyed volunteering at the Oswego Hospital. In addition to her mother she is survived by her grandchildren Gavin Goodbread of NC, Dana Goodbread of NM, and Helen Montagnola of Port Henry, NY, Catherine Kazlo of Hudson, NY, Joseph (Anne Marie) of Port Henry, NY, Martha Montagnola of Saranac Lake, Stephen (Becky) Montagnola of Oswego, Michelle Callaghan of Raybrook, NY and one grandchild. Wendy I. Hogle Plattsburgh/Swanton, VT - Wendy I. Hogle, 62, of Cornelia Street, Plattsburgh, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington, Vermont, following a courageous battle with cancer. For the previous few months, Wendy has resided with, and been cared for by her brother and sister-in-law in Swanton, VT. She was born in Plattsburgh, December 10, 1950, the daughter of George Matthew and Hilda Mae (Armstrong) Hogle. Wendy was a graduate of Mooers Central School Class of 1970. She worked for the City of Plattsburgh for many years. Wendy loved the color red, and Christmas. She enjoyed collecting Christmas memorabilia including snow globes, music boxes, stuffed animals, and of course - anything red. Though Wendy never had any of her own, she was known for her love of children. She helped raise her nieces and nephews, and safely helped elementary students cross the street as a guard. Wendy loved country music, reading a variety of books, and watching nostalgic television. She loved all animals, especially cats. Survivors include her companion, Reginald Pratt of Plattsburgh; siblings, Wayne Hogle of Gouverneur, Cheryl Hogle and her companion Beverly Hodge of Pensacola, Florida, Melody Bourgeois and her husband Robert of Chazy, Rick Hogle and his wife Alana of Swanton, Vermont, and Laurie Glode of Peru; sister-in-law, Georgianna Hogle of Mooers; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, G. Wesley Hogle; and sister-in-law, Carol Hogle. Calling hours were held Saturday, November 16, 2013, from 12:30 to 2 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A funeral service followed at 2 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Mooers Riverside Cemetery. Newcomb. Charles C. Maddison 88, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at the Adirondack Tri County Nursing Home. Charlie was born April 3, 1925 in Wright, NY the son of the late Rev. James and Anne Skejlett Maddison. Charlie was predeceased by his wife Marion his sister Mary Armstrong, his brother James H. Maddison and his companion Betty Kuhnen. Charlie was a Town of Newcomb councilman for many years and was elected Town Supervisor in 1980 and served until he retired in 1989. During Charlie's years on the Town Board the Newcomb beach was constructed, as was the town hall and the Overview site. Charlie served as Chairman of the Tourism Committee and served on various other committees on the Essex County Board of Supervisors. He was an active member of the Town of Newcomb and the Essex County Democratic Committee's. Charlie was the Newcomb School bus mechanic and also drove a school bus. He was employed at Syracuse University College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Huntington Forrest for several years. Charlie was an excellent mechanic and welder and did a lot of work for people around the Newcomb area. Charlie was a member of the Town of Newcomb, Lions Club and the Newcomb Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Newcomb United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the Shriners. Charlie enjoyed bowling, fishing and played a great game of soft ball in his day. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great story teller and seemed to have a new story every time you saw him. Charlie was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He served aboard the US Broome. Charlie is survived by his two daughters, Victoria Maddison (Ron) Shore of Dunedin Florida and Jill Maddison of Bloomingdale, NY, his Son James (Sheree) Maddison of Hudson Falls, his sister Eileen Stott (Brad) Parker of Tupper Lake, his grandsons Mike (Nina) Shore and Riley Maddison, his granddaughter Kinsey Maddison, his great granddaughter Caleesi, and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the lifelong friends that allowed Charlie to live a wonderful life full of amazing memories. Elizabethtown and Keene; Robert R. Purdy, 78, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 13, 2013, at his home. Bob was born August 20, 1935 in Greece NY, the son of the late Wilmont Monty and Anna Lorraine (Burritt) Purdy. Bob was also predeceased by his son Bobby in 2006. Bob was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving from 1952 until 1956.He was Supervisor of the Town of Keene from 1970 until 1982 and from 1992 until 1997, He served as the Essex County Fire coordinator for several years. Bob was a member of the Keene Volunteer Fire Department for 48 years and served as Commissioner of the Department for a time. He was very active in the NYS Association of Counties and Towns. Bob was a former National Chairman of the US Olympic Bob Sled Committee and was a bob sled driver for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 504 in AuSable Forks and a former long time member of the Keeseville Lodge 2072 BPO Elks. Bob had many friends all over the country. He was known for his jolly personality, storytelling, humor and hospitality. He enjoyed cooking, attending his childrens' athletic events, riding his lawn mower on the lawn or around town, and he especially enjoyed being with his family and going for rides in the car with Denise. He was a special person who will be missed. Survivors include his loving wife Denise of Elizabethtown; His daughters Diane of Keene; Tammy Leon of Milwaukee, WI, Heather (Rob) Shaw of Lake Placid; Nichole (Ty) FitzGerald of Colchester Vt. and Brittany Purdy of Elizabethtown; his daughter-in law Debbie of Peru; his sister Beverly (Paul) Greenwood of Keene and his brother Ronald (Katy) Purdy of Keene; his grandchildren Eric, Zachery and Ali Leon, Thomas Vassar, Nicholas and Lauren Shaw, Emily, Leah and Andrew FitzGerald and Shelby and Jake Purdy; his great grandchildren Lucas Leon and Emmitt Ives; his Aunt Betty Smith of Rochester, NY, and several nieces nephews and cousins.
