RALPH WARREN (BING) FAXON APR 8, 1936 - DEC 11, 2013

Queensbury and Blue Mountain Lake Lake. Ralph Warren (Bing) Faxon, 77 years, died at his home in Queensbury, NY on December 11, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bing was born in Mohawk, NY on April 8th, 1936 the son of Henry C. and Pauline M. (Kimm) Faxon. He moved to Long Lake in 1947 where his mother taught music and art. Shortly after graduating from the Manlius Military School, Manlius, NY in 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy from Long Lake serving for 10 1/2 years as enlisted and 11 1/2 years as an officer retiring in 1976 as a Lieutenant Commander. He was awarded various medals while serving in the United States Navy. He served on USS MITSCHER (DL-2); several tankers and repair ship while attached to a staff: USS YORKTOWN (CVS-10) and USS INTREPID (CVC-11). He was Executive Officer, United Nations Command (Rear) while serving four years with the U.S. Army at Camp Zama, Japan in support of United Nations Command Korea. He retired after serving as Personnel Officer, Naval Training Center, Orlando, Fla., in 1976 to co-manage Potter's Resort with his wife, Laura, and two daughters until sold in 2003. Bing and Laura resided in Blue Mt. Lake, NY since 1985. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Griffin Faxon whom he was married to for 57 years, two daughters, Dr. Kim L. Tillery, (Marshall) Amherst, NY and Lynn E. Figura, (Gregg), Queensbury, NY; four grandsons, one granddaughter and a great grandson. Bing enjoyed snowmobiling with his family, fishing, golfing, initiating the Woodland home sites in Blue Mt. Lake, and sharing his military experiences. He especially enjoyed being the Blue Mt. Lake's town Santa Clause for nearly 30 years. Most important to Bing was his loving family who will miss him dearly. Bing was a member of Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge in Tokyo, Japan, American Legion, DAV, MOAA, and various other organizations. There will be a military service in July 2014 at Long Lake Cemetery.
