Paul Davidson, age 93, of Cape Canaveral, Florida, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 in Wuesthoff Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Bergenfield, New Jersey on January 19, 1920 to George and Mary Davidson, Paul lived in Ticonderoga, N.Y. with his wife, Mary King Davidson and their family of eight children and was employed at International Paper Company where he was Area Supervisor of Power/Steam. He started working at the old Ticonderoga Mill and helped in the building and start-up of the new Ti facility. Upon retirement Paul noted that he had probably visited all the mills with the exception of Texarkana during his career. In 1972, Paul was transferred to the Hudson River facility from which he retired after a 39 year career.
Before working at International Paper, Paul worked at General Electric Co. in Schenectady and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve during World War II.
Paul was past president of the NY Chapter of the National Association of Power Engineers 1969-1970 and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Paul was also an alumni of the Civil Conseration Corp. (C.C.C.'s) in 1936-37 assigned to Camp Sisters and Camp Mill Creek in Oregon, working on road construction.
Following his retirement and the death of his wife, Paul relocated to Florida. He enjoyed traveling the country in his RV, taking cruises, fishing, boating, bike riding and dabbling in investments.
Paul is survived by his thirteen year companion, Joni Ausherman; his six daughters, Barbara Kern, Linda Bilotti, Patricia Geppert, Susan Rathbun, DeeAnne Scott, Mary Beth Davidson and two sons, Peter and Paul Davidson. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held this summer in Ticonderoga at the convenience of the family. He will be interred in the Davidson family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery, Alexandria Avenue, Ticonderoga.
