Ticonderoga. Ida Helen Wendell, 99, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Heritage Commons Residential Healthcare of Ticonderoga. Born in Whitehall, New York, February 4, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Lucy (Fish) Wolcott. Mrs. Wendell was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life and was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. She was employed by Woolworth's of Ticonderoga for several years and she was also a very talented, self-employed Seamstress for many years. She married Thomas Gorman Wendell in 1934. They were married 72 years. Thomas pre-deceased her on December 29, 2006. Survivors include one son, Francis T. "Pete" Wendell and his wife, Carlene, and one daughter, Jacqueline Trombley and her husband, William, both of Ticonderoga. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Mark Wendell and his wife, Lisa of Ticonderoga, Kelly Wendell and his wife, Sandra of Chandler, Arizona, Tammy Pellman and her husband, Scott of Middlebury, CT, and Kristen Trombley of Ticonderoga; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Wendell, Kasi Wendell, Sarah Pellman, Matthew Pellman, Emma Wendell and William Dunning; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours for relatives and friends were held Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Kevin D. McEwan, Pastor, officiated. The Rite of Committal followed at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Donations in Mrs. Wendell's memory may be made to St. Mary's School, 64 Amherst Avenue, Ticonderoga, NY 12883.
